Ritual Magic II - Magical Horizons

Magic is all about balance. Nowhere was this concept more fully developed than in the beliefs and practices of the Egyptian priesthood. They were master psychologists and had a range of practical techniques for exploring the inner consciousness. Yet although ancient Egypt continues to exert a fascination for today’s magician, it is a system seldom used outside the magical fraternities.

In this workshop we will explore how techniques such as assumption of god-forms and the Star Chamber of Isis may have been used by the Egyptian priesthood and can be used today to contact archetypes deep within the subconscious mind. We will discuss how gesture was used as an integral part of Egyptian magic, showing how a ritual can be constructed using gesture alone. The workshop will include practical techniques for etheric and astral projection based on research of the Egyptian classification and use of the various subtle bodies. I will show how contact with the gods and their myths can be used as a powerful tool to achieve inner awareness, balance and self-empowerment.

Ritual Magic, Part III: "Beyond the Pillars of Wisdom"

Beyond the Pillars of Wisdom is the third workshop in a series of three focused on learning advanced ritual-skills. During Ritual Magic I we delved into ritual mechanics, the symbolic structure of the temple space, the officers, use of magical tools, and the mental, emotional and physical requirements of the practicing magician. Ritual Magic II took us into Mythology and Ritual Drama.This next class takes us further along the path, where we take what we have learned and begin working with advanced techniques.

Beyond the Pillars of Wisdom is open to anyone who has taken Ritual Magic II. This is a hands-on class where we will be working and learning in an active temple space. Exercises and pathworkings will be a part of each teaching session. Saturday evening will include a formal ritual. Ritual Magic I, II and III are held six months apart. Ideally the same group of participants moves through the series together. T

Guarding the Lodge

Being a Guardian is not just about holding the sword. A good Guardian is nearly as rare as a good Seer. In addition to a large amount of technical know-how, to be a successful Guardian, you need to be able to read auras and atmospheres, to build up complex thoughtforms and to be accustomed to spending long periods outside the body. You also, on occasion, need nerves of steel!

Yet there exists little formal training for Lodge Guardians. This workshop seeks to address that. Drawing upon some 15 years of training and work as a Guardian and Magus, and upon descriptions of guardianship from mythological and occult sources, we will look at the qualities necessary for a Guardian and how these can be developed.  

In this workshop we will cover:

• Psychometry and aura reading
• Building up a defensive thoughtform for temple or home
• Sealing and unsealing the Lodge
• Summoning help
• Using the Michaeline sigils
• Developing the intuition
• Achieving control of the astral levels
• Protecting the lodge or working space
• Psychic attack and defence

RITUAL MAGIC I
FIRST STEPS IN RITUAL

The first of three weekends of Ritual Magic Training.  

Ritual and ceremony have played an important part in the spiritual quest of humanity ever since the days of Atlantis. The esoteric orders use magical ritual as a tool for spiritual and clairvoyant development, for seeking wisdom from the Inner-Level Teachers, and to help and heal.

This workshop is for S.O.L. students and non-students alike who wish to learn the basics of safe ritual practice. It, like the other two in the series, is designed to be explored over two and half days, starting with an opening session on Friday evening, a full day on Saturday, an evening ritual on Saturday, and full day on Sunday. If you plan on attending these classes, you should have a black robe.  

Contents for this workshop include the theory of magic; the place of Magic in the modern world; requirements for the practice of magic; the Western Mystery Tradition; Qabalah; the foundation of Western Magic; preparation of the self; building the physical temple and its symbolism; the inner temple; the cornerstones of true magic; the magical tools; the magical ring; the symbols, colors, and meanings of the quarters; the God-forms of the quarters; movement and intent in the temple; the officers and their duties; the Magical Personality and the Body of Light; group souls and group minds; the three aspects of ritual; pathworkings; and projection of consciousness.

The Saturday night ritual will be "The Ritual of Ascending Silences."

Subsequent workshops in the series build upon this background, delving deeper into the study of magic.

Ritual Magic III - Beyond the Pillars of Wisdom

The emphasis with this, the last workshop in the series, is very much on the archangelic or Briatic levels of the Tree of Life. As we move into these higher realms we will experience working not so much as a separate ego but on the level of ‘mind touch’. When this happens, rituals become very simple, unelaborated pieces of work. There is no longer any need for scripts as all the participants have entered into a symbiotic relationship and function as a unit.

Before that can happen, however, we need to develop our awareness of the subtle realms so that it can be brought to a sharp focus. For this reason I would like you to bring along to the workshop some item that has a ‘history’ and can be psychometrised. Alternatively, you can take a small item such as a crystal or stone and imprint it with a simple emotion or feeling. Please feel free to bring with you also, anything you use to help psychometry such as a pendulum, rods and so on.

The ritual on Saturday night will be The Mass of the Archangels. As before, early booking would be appreciated as I would like to assign roles ahead of time and send these out to you.
